The Biggest Health Fix Many Of Us Are Missing Out On.

Updated: Jan 14

It's an under appreciated component of optimal health, and I get it - I sometimes forget to drink enough water too. Not to mention, it seems far too simple to be able to fix headaches, premature ageing, fatigue or constipation...

But it can! Read on to find out my simple tricks for increasing your water intake.

I was one of those people too for most of my life, and I did not believe that water would be the answer to some of my problems. I can absolutely confirm that you will notice a big difference in how you feel if you focus on increasing your hydration.

It is a habit that can take some time to form, so here are some tips to try:

  • Buy a water bottle to carry around with you. Keep it in eyesight to remind you to sip throughout the day.

  • Leave a large glass of water by your bedside table at night. Drink it down as soon as you wake up in the morning.

  • Set a morning routine of sipping *ginger tea or *lemon water before breakfast.

  • Set alarms on your phone to remind you to drink. Try 200ml every hour.

  • Make a big pot of caffeine free *herbal tea. There would be a few cups of tea in 1 teapot. Rosehip, hibiscus or peppermint tea are nice flavours to try.

  • Homemade, low salt veggie soups or broths - 1 cup as a snack.

  • Coffee or black tea is not counted to your water intake. These can dehydrate you.

  • Smoothies or veggie juices with 1 cup of liquid.

  • Munch on high water fruits and veg such as lettuce cucumbers, citrus fruit, watermelon, mango and celery. Try my mango avocado summer salad!

  • Vitamin water: add chopped fruit, cucumber and mint to your water to make it more exciting.

  • Fill a large jug of water to keep at your desk or coffee table with a glass of water (if you don't have a water bottle).

TODAY'S CHALLENGE:

If this sounds like you, make today a day where you focus on getting 2L in. Try the strategies above, and reflect on how you feel tomorrow night. Let me know how you go!

* Caution with herbal teas, as some may have interactions.
